Jonathan Rosenthal is an award-winning journalist and speaker. In his current role as International Editor of The Economist he oversees the magazine’s coverage of geopolitical and social trends.
Jonathan is also a regular speaker and moderator on Africa and international banking. (See videos here)
Jonathan’s previous roles at The Economist have included Africa Editor, International Banking Editor and European Business and Finance correspondent, based in Berlin.
Jonathan joined The Economist in 2005 as its British Business Correspondent. In 2008 he won Feature of the Year at the WorkWorld Media Awards, and the following year he was named Reporter of the Year. He has appeared on television and radio in several countries including BBC News 24, Sky and on ITV’s “Tonight” among others.
Before joining The Economist, Jonathan was at Bloomberg News for five years in various roles including one of its correspondents in South Africa before moving to London to cover British banks. His previous roles included that of mining editor and industrial editor at Business Report, which at the time was South Africa’s largest daily business newspaper.
